An Island Excursion at Nineteen

An Island Excursion at Nineteen

On our way to the edge of an island

Where all the houses are built of concrete

So high tides and strong winds

Cannot knock down their spirit

Cannot wash away their smiles

Cannot stop the hip rolls and two steps

A dance of a people who feel sea salt breeze

and eighty degrees

most of the days of their lives.
