Toronto Dancehall Collective Puts the Dance Back In Dancehall

Exciting news: BASHY will be teaming up with the Toronto Dancehall Collective as a media partner to present the Free Up! Dancehall Festival. With select portions of the festival done in collaboration with the Caribbean Students Association at Ryerson University and the Racialised Students Collective, rhe two day event will focus on the world of dance within dancehall. And guess what? It's free! Peep the itinerary below:  

DAY 1:

On Thurday June 14th, we'll be partnering with the Caribbean Students Association at Ryerson University and the Racialised Students Collective for a movie night and panel discussion at The Real Institute (424 Yonge St. - 2nd Floor)!

5PM: Movie Night - watching "Bruk Out: A Dancehall Queen Documentary"

6PM: The #Chattingz Speaker Panel - Discussing the Importance of Identity, Community and Socio-Economic Status in Dancehall featuring:

  • Razor B (International Dancehall Artist)
  • Tasha "Tazz" (Dancer/Choreographer from Toronto)
  • Rodeo Promo (one of Toronto's top promoters)
  • DJ Whitebwoy (reknowned Dancehall DJ)
  • Sandra British (Events Coordinator/Booking Manager)

DAY 2:

On Friday June 15th, we'll be doing a gallery by Humans Of Dancehall and a FREE Dancehall workshop at 6pm by Tabby Rockstar & Mrs. Faby inside of the Student Learning Centre (341 YONGE ST. - 1st Floor). Be ready to dance!
